Bighorn Buddies

"Bighorn Buddies" is part of an ABC series of limited edition prints celebrating queer critters in the animal queendom. Printed in five colors, the illustrations are reduction linocuts with handset wood and metal type. Letterpress printed with oil-based inks on 100% cotton Reich Savoy, each print measures 13 x 19 inches. This signed and numbered edition of 22 prints includes a description: Bighorn sheep (obis canadensis) live in sex-segregated bands in western North America. Courtship and sexual activity happens routinely among rams, with older males often courting younger males. Females are only receptive to compilation for about three days of the year and will not allow mating otherwise. Some males live and behave as if female, crouching to urinate and living year round with ewes. Queer Tails is a collaboration with illustrator Audra Laymon, printer Jessica Spring, and researcher sweet pea at Springtide Press.
